"Pacifica Mission Statement"
"KPFK and Pacifica are founded upon a Mission Statement which to this day remains unique in radio broadcasting:THE PACIFICA FOUNDATION RADIO
MISSION STATEMENT
(a) To establish a Foundation organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any member of the Foundation. [*]
(b) To establish and operate for educational purposes, in such manner that the facilities involved shall be as nearly self-sustaining as possible, one or more radio broadcasting stations licensed by the Federal Communi-cations Commission and subject in their operation to the regulatory actions of the Commission under the Communications Act of 1934, As Amended.
(c) In radio broadcasting operations to encourage and provide outlets for the creative skills and energies of the community;
to conduct classes and workshops in the writing and producing of drama;
to establish awards and scholarships for creative writing;
to offer performance facilities to amateur instrumentalists, choral groups, orchestral groups and music students;
and to promote and aid other creative activities which will serve the cultural welfare of the community.
(d) In radio broadcasting operations to engage in any activity that shall contribute to a lasting understanding between nations and between the individuals of all nations, races, creeds and colors;
to gather and disseminate information on the causes of conflict between any and all of such groups;
and through any and all means compatible with the purposes of this corporation to promote the study of political and economic problems and of the causes of religious, philosophical and racial antagonisms.
(e) In radio broadcasting operations to promote the full distribution of public information;
to obtain access to sources of news not commonly brought together in the same medium;
and to employ such varied sources in the public presentation of accurate, objective, comprehensive news on all matters vitally affecting the community. - - -

And to be tolerating of every "Other" kinds of beliefs, of even 'normal' or 'ordinary' lifestyles. And to even Include what is labeled as 'establishment' and 'traditional' ways- of majorities also living life on Our Earth. Yes ! include voices not otherwise easily found nor heard on KPFK. But be not limited.
Be Not limited to the selected Only-1 view and outrage - that allows no others equal validity and expression on KPFK air waves. Allow and promote sharings without prejudices - those which do not just go only-1-way, but may flow in more, in all different + other ways.
How ideal can programmers still be while those who select programs for KPFK to allow opposites, divergences "in" to the program diet ? And can they have some difficult-to-swallow-ideas also let live-within-these-broadcast-realms ? To share air space?
In Actuality, not in mere words and promises. But be allowing, listening to more than 1-slant, 1-side, 1- or 2-only chosen ethnicities ? Being INCLUSIVE and including - of what is labeled as "disagreeable" to the already-"In" people at KPFK - and yet let those too to occasionally also be HEARD - on 90.7 FM in Los Angeles.
How OPEN and Educational can KPFK be and stay OPEN to more than the same old version of what is their-definition of 'good' and 'allowed' ? Before closing off all "them" others who may 'disagree' or 'are different than are we' ?

The Mission statement that is so lauded and repeated is then not easily followed or allowed reality on KPFK's airwaves. With mostly specially selected politics, slanted alliances, and preferred prejudices are now sounding off - on the radio broadcasts too often.
Not by every programmer, but by most. Those who 'tow the line' and are chosen because they too adhere to the "Victim is to be Most Honored, admired"..... and all others are dismissed.
As if, KPFK had a duty to save and broadcast every outrage, every angry viewpoint, every found criticism of groups that the station management -and ancient stuck-there-programmers - all who insist only They are Right and Righteous. And those claim The Right to repeat and Proclaim themselves arbitrers of Truth and Goodness. Them. And Often loudly.
Variety appears - as in varieties of music, tho some kinds are never heard on KPFK. Europeans are mostly called 'privileged' and 'dominating' ... and so are exluded, demeaned or ignored - as if "they" were 'bad' or undeserving - of even musical representation.
Variety in viewpoints and opinions is less varied at KPFK than music,and is and more in apparent-group-agreements. The Left is good. Anything else is not.
Anger is claimed as honest speech - with slang and crude vernacular words spewed out rather easily. While more thoughtful language with diverse versions or coverage of those guests & events are avoided.
Variety in topics presented is not "educational" so much as presenting political preferences with a branding towards a 1-only outcome.
Promotion, as of candidates for government offices, are obviously presented, though that is not part of the Mission nor actually allowed for non-profits. So, if no $$$money is traded, and no one notices or complains, then prejudiced promotions easily slip in anyhow.
The Mission seems to be antiquated idealism that is given verbal allegiances - but more seldom given actual Open-Minded presentations or on-air exposure.
The strict adherence to a slanted world, one wanted for the same Power and Influence everyone-else wants -everywhere and anywhere- appears here in some radio-air-time too.
That is KPFK's pride and secret solo-access - to ears and minds and then influencing KPFK listeners towards their chosen 1-biased goal. No matter if it is only Left-sided,...not Middle, nor Crooked nor Straight nor Curved ....nor Right-sided. Only Left is heard on KPFK.Limited. Repetitive.
The rest of the sky-seen-rainbow & spectrums are ignored and denied, as when only 1-bias is chosen. Then 1-color /side /view /story only is given radio-air-access on this radio station.
All else or others must be heard and found elsewhere.
Because limitations do not make for a broad, full, open educational presentation. Fit-In to KPFK's prejudices or be gone.
Donations go with those who want more variety of mind-thoughts, and better view-points,plus more informed-stories and creative know-how = to be heard - elsewhere.
The KPFK Mission apparently is identical to the one listed for Pacifica, because if there are variations, they cannot be found on their website or online.
The wishes of the original founders and first programmers that set-up these radio stations cannot be full-filled - and are barely adhered to now. The words are stated as if in agreement, while the results do not seem to show that agreement, as is broadcast-on-air.
Lucky for those who have reception to more and other radio in Los Angeles, to not be limited to just 1-sided propaganda. As that is what is presented, tho not as Mission-programmed - now.
All the variety of Creative Skills and Creative thinking of this Community is in conflict with those limitations of the chosen-only alliances, closing off so many others....who may disagree or think differently or want expansion to their thinking.
Maybe it is just as well, that the tightening of the noose then forces many donors & listeners to seek more variety elsewhere instead.
Maybe, it is part of KPFK's plan to push away any donors and listeners who want more independence of thought and creativity in their actions.
Maybe, no one is listening in there with an open-mind and daring to speak-to-truth-and-those-in-power at KPFK. Maybe....
